Co-worker & Volunteer Opportunities
High Spirit will be will be reviewing and accepting applications this coming spring (2008)
for both co-workers and volunteers.
Co-worker responsibilities include:
- Assisting residents in the home-life setting.
- Preparing meals General care and upkeep of the home.
- Assisting residents in the land program.
- Assiting residents in workshop settings
- Active participate in the social,culture and festive life of HSCF
All co-workers will need to be at least 18 years of age and able to make at least a 1-year commitment to High Spirit Community Farm. The only other prerequisites are enthusiasm, a willingness to participate fully in the daily work, social, and spiritual life of the community, and proficiency in English.
High Spirit will welcome all local community volunteers. There will be opportunities for both individuals and small groups to help with a wide variety of tasks including (but certainly not limited to) landscaping, kitchen work, barn work, gardening, administration, and personal care. Our volunteers will receive no salary in the traditional sense of the word; rather, the High Spirit community will take care of all their basic living needs, including monthly stipends for living expenses and vacation time. Co-workers will not so much take care of our residents and day participants as much as they will live side-by-side in a mutually beneficial arrangement, supporting and empowering each other through shared responsibilities, cultural and spiritual life, and living arrangements.
Co-workers at High Spirit Community Farm will all be residential volunteers. They will live and work at High Spirit out of a deep-seated desire to realize the High Spirit ideals and to stand behind our residents waving their supportive flag, urging them forward on their journeys of self-discovery. The High Spirit co-worker experience will be rich, rewarding, and unparalleled by any other volunteer activity.ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
